The International Mine Water Association (IMWA) Conference 2023 brought delegates from around the world to ICC Wales for a week of discussion, collaboration and knowledge-sharing on the sustainable management of mine water. Cazbah was commissioned to provide full event management services, covering registration, sponsorship, travel logistics, programme development, and delegate experience.

 

Working closely with the IMWA organising committee — which included representatives from Natural Resources Wales, the Coal Authority, Welsh Government, and Cardiff and Swansea Universities — Cazbah chaired planning meetings to coordinate all stakeholder input and ensure a coherent, high-quality event. It was wonderful to finally meet the management team, following the 2021 conference being delivered online via eventbocs due to the pandemic.

 

We developed a comprehensive, weeklong conference programme featuring academic sessions, an international exhibition, and site visits across Wales to showcase innovative environmental and industrial projects. The event also included a prestigious gala dinner celebrating Welsh culture and hospitality. Drawing on our network of partners, we curated a full evening of entertainment featuring performances from National Youth Arts Wales, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Welsh National Opera.

Cazbah managed all aspects of delegate registration and communication, providing clear bilingual materials and logistical support to international attendees. Sponsorship and exhibitor coordination were handled in-house, ensuring a smooth experience for partners and stakeholders throughout the event.

 

Results

The conference attracted a global audience and delivered an engaging, memorable experience that highlighted Wales’ leadership in environmental research and sustainable innovation.
