The Challenge

The International Mine Water Association (IMWA) needed a delivery partner to manage a complex, week-long international conference involving multiple stakeholders delegates from around the world, and a hybrid delivery history (virtual in 2021, in-person in 2023). The event needed to balance academic excellence with a high-quality delegate experience, while showcasing Wales on an international stage.

 

Our Approach

Cazbah provided end-to-end event management, working closely with the IMWA organising committee and key partners including Natural Resources Wales, the Coal Authority, Welsh Government, and leading universities.

 

We chaired planning meetings, coordinated stakeholder input, and developed a comprehensive programme including academic sessions, exhibitions, site visits, and a gala dinner. We managed all delegate communications, registration, and logistics, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for an international audience.

 

Drawing on our trusted partner network, we curated a culturally distinctive social programme, highlighting Welsh talent and heritage which included a prestigious gala dinner celebrating Welsh culture and hospitality and a full evening of entertainment featuring performances from National Youth Arts Wales, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Welsh National Opera.

 

The Outcome

A highly professional, engaging international conference that successfully brought together global experts, strengthened collaboration, and positioned Wales as a leader in sustainable mine water management.
